Thanksgiving…the idea of our modern Thanksgiving evokes as many different emotions as there are people. Some of my thoughts are Family, Food, Fun, Football … on the other side are sadness, sorrow, solitude …
The holiday season (which seems to start earlier and earlier, according to the marketing department for the retailers) is not always the joyous, happy, boisterous event portrayed by TV ads, retailers, or even those well meaning individuals who seem to thrive on planning, preparing and bubbling their way through this time of year.
If you are struggling with hunger or hunger related issues, financial insecurity, loneliness, illness, or any other concerns that just makes this time of year difficult, we would like to invite you to our community Thanksgiving dinner at All Are Welcome. While one meal, one group of people (strangers, even), or one day in the year cannot erase all your concerns and cares – we hope that being a part of OUR family for the day will lift your spirits for a while!
Our menu for the day includes a selection of cheeses, crackers and light appetizers, a full Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, gravy, stuffing, vegetables and traditional fixin’s, a selection of pies and sweets for dessert with coffee, tea, and assorted cold beverages.
This is a sit-down meal, served family style (unlike our weekly meals that are served to order). We encourage anyone who is interested in dining with us to reserve seats, so we’re sure to have room for all!
Volunteers who would like to lend a hand during our preparations or service of this meal are also needed. For those who are unable to give time or energy, for a meal this size, financial support is always a blessing.
